Wow, look how time flies...

For the past one year, I've been busy with work and projects that this column
is sorely neglected. Today, I decided to resurrect it. It's ok if nobody reads this
but its a journal for my kids right?

So here are some photos to sort of "tell" what happened during my lapse.

A day at the Singapore Art Museum with Ms Jo

day at the Singapore Art Museum was fun for both of us,
Josephine took a look at all the pictures (mainly photography)
and could not quite understand what it all means. But we have
fun playing with some interesting objects and display and most
of all..maneovring through all the small rooms and listening to
our voices echoing through....ooowhowhooooooo..

Changi Airport-School Holiday Visit

Changi airport is having a promotion to lure
people like us (parents) buying $100 worth
of goods in order to get a ticket for the
DORA THE EXPLORER musical. (limited to 30 seats
only). I was a bit blur, did not check out the
facts and rushed to the airport hoping to get
a free ticket to the musical. Well..it was not
meant to be..so we still enjoyed ourselves by
visiting the children playground, cultural
booth stands and the big inflatable slide.
The slide cost something except you just
need to spend about $20 to redeem a free ticket.
Well, it's still better than $100. It's economic
hardship, the organiser should spare us a thought.

Praise God, we still enjoyed tremendously as the
kids break for high tea with chocolate cakes and
fries (grasps! I know I know it's unhealthy).

We finished with a leisure walk around Terminal 3
and the kids slept all the way home.

Blackforest cake

So..Jonathan was a bit feverish but he
was fine and playing by morning. That's
the power of supplement he takes daily.
Even though he takes them and get infected,
he recovers fast.Period.

So, I decided to give him some activities to
distract him from the fever. I placed before
him a big round foam and placed toothpick around
to resemble candles. Red beads are to be placed
into the toothpick by a tong then vice versa.
I know when Jonathan is concentrating is when
he open out his mouth.

This gives him a good few minutes doing and re-doing
again.

Fever go away....it is time to play...
give baby a birthday cake and he play till happiness stays...

Josephine's 4 year old Birthday

This was a rather rush birthday plan..we were each so busy
that time flies like a plane...before we knew it, it's Josephine's
birthday. She has been dropping hint about getting her a gift..
getting excited how we would plan it this year. Well...Daddy
have some rough idea but get me (mummy) to execute it.

So Sunday, we bought a chocolate cake from FOUR LEAVES Bakery
and I zoomed in to Cold Storage Supermart to get some party favors
for a few kids in church and top it off with candy bags. Along
the shelf of the party accessories department, they very cleverly
hang small bags of party favours that are simply amazing, like
small magnifying glass, small trumpet whistles, mini hula hoops,
small tennis pat with rubber ball attached to it etc. all very
sensibly thought out. They are going to be such a hit with the kids!

Then I saw the balloons with each letter that forms HAPPY BIRTHDAY..
Now that's a good idea to quickly fixed up a room with a party theme.
So into the basket it goes...

Sunday school room was use for the decoration and cake cutting. Some
kids already smelled a "rat" (meaning something going to happen), they
started helping around and help themselves to some extra sweets along the
way. ( Not complaining).;-)

Exactly at one, we declare the party officially opened. The rest of the kids
streamed in and we gather around for a rousing birthday song. Jonathan was
estatic and sang so loudly as if it's his birthday song. Josephine was
excited when the cake was revealed and so were the other kids.

The rest of the adults joined in as they come through room that leads to
the kitchen, very strategically placed.

Cake was cut and shared around.

After that, we headed to Marina Square for bowling but had to wait for 1.5 hours
to get a slot so while waiting we decided to eat at Waruka restaurant nearby
that have a lunch promo for 2 dishes at S$9.90, we order 2 sets but was
a bit disapointed to find out that it serves in two small plates. So, Daddy
order another promo 1 for 1 pizza. The pizza was so good, thin crust with
chunky bits of toppings. Our fussy kids lapped it up within mintues.

The bowling was so exciting for Jonathan because he loves anything round
or they must look like a bus. We get the children to roll with two hands
then we rolled it for them. They had fun scoring! As for us, it's a perfect
excuse to exercise a bit, Lanny our helper gets to play too.
so end a great day!

Josephine our firstborn, we pray God's highest blessing on her and reaching
all her God given potential in her generation.

Josephine's Dove

This craft work was done on easter day.
A little too late to post but for
memory sake...

I was teaching her about the Holy Spirit
and the symbol is a dove. It only require
a toilet roll and cut-out shape of the
wings, face and feet.

It's simple. Hope you can try it too!

Pouring Exercise

I thought of giving some exercise on Jonathan's little finger
as he was getting restless and hyperactive. I settled him
down at a table with a tray and two containers and a scoop.
He quickly quiet down and with intense concentration begin
the task. It might seems mundane to me but it was a huge
PROJECT for him. I was glad he was enjoying himself...

Jonathan 2 year old birthday

Jonathan birthday falls on 2 April and phew! I remember that
I hold the baby till the 2nd cause you know it's funny
to have him out on the 1st....

All our church friends and Edward good buddies came with their
family and it was like another reunion. It's great to see everyone
again and pick up where we left off.

The preparation was a two day affair, my mother in law was
very particular about everything because she wanted to give the
best to Jonathan. She loves him to bits!

My helper was very clever to make the pinatas after we could
not get a decent one anywhere within our price range... times
are hard but creativity is the key! We made the pinatas from
balloon and starch paper stuffing them later with lots of
sweets! The game portion was a blast! and the kids love the
try at the pinatas which was the highlight of the day.

We took some meal planning as well to make sure they are all
kid friendly food but our filipino caterer was able to produce
4 filipino dishes for the adults as well so they all have a bit
of everything.

There was a mix of chinese singaporeans and filipinos and even my
neighbour who is an indian stewardess gather at this event and
Edward and me love people...we have this opportunity to get to
know them better.

The kids area were cardoned off at the open balcony area which we
transformed to a kiddy area with balloons and cars for rides.
We were glad to be able to extend our living area to the balcony cause
the house could not hold that many people...

The cake was baked by Kok Wee our dear brother in Chirst. All the children
could not keep their hands off..so it's really appealing.The birthday
cake was so well done! Jonathan was grinning from ear to ear..so adorable
and memorable! As everyone sang, he sang loudly too..even though he did not
get all the words right..we are so happy to see his happy face!

Some guest lingered till 10pm as they catch up with us...

So end a great day and a very happy 2 year old boy.

We love you Jonathan! May the Lord make His face shine upon you
and give you peace always!

A visit to the Singapore Science Center

What a fun day it was? The Singapore Science Center has change so much since
I went there as a student. The Science Center was catered for all ages to enjoy
even my mother-in-law has a hands on session with several exhibits. I learn the
most from the body anatomy. Josephine fav was the magician room where it
reveal the illusion behind the beheading scene. It was the clever use of mirror!

Josephine's Prayer

Josephine was praying for my stiff back today
and her prayers has left me laughing in tears..
Here it goes :

" Lord, please heal mummy and make her strong
and eat more vegetables so she can be well again"

Yes! It would mean spinach and popeye the sailor man.

To the beach

The weather was not very encourging when we decided to go to the beach.
Dark clouds seems to loom overhead but refuses to drop a bucket.Indecision..
indecision...anyway, we have already packed and we can always hide in the
huge shelter if it rains. We prayed to the Lord too.

Not too bad.. a few families.."brave" like us venture to the beach with
gusto. The children have a great time making sand castle and pouring and
digging keeps Jonathan very busy. Josephine likes to build sandcastles
and pick seashells. The sea shells were later placed into our fish tank.

By noon, we are home and the rain followed. Thank you Lord for holding
back the rain so we can enjoy the great outdoors. Sure enough, the kids
went straight to bed after cleaning up..snuggled in bed with a book and
nap...zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Admitted to hospital

Boy!..it was supposed to be a day trip to the GP
but ended up in the hospital A&E. No worries, just
that the doctors were unable to do a proper job in
cleaning the infection on Ed's stomach. I was already
dizzy from all the running around, fetching clothes
from home and going through the paper work. I felt like
admitting myself in the hospital...haaa!

Anyway to compensate our tirdness, we were able to check
into the "A" class ward courtesy of Edward's company. We
check with the HR two times before we tick the "A" class
ward box. The room was so peaceful and momentarily I thought
I was in a four star hotel...fresh towels, personal toilet,
personal T.V and internet services with moveable screen..
all at the touch of a button. One night stay is about $250+
excluding surgical cost.

Josephine learn to pray for her dad and her favourite
phrase " Lord, please make daddy strong again like David"
David and Goliath is her favourite story and she relates
almost everything to that story. Bad people are like Goliath
strong people like David.Hmmm...just wondering how to move
out from this phase....

Here a glimpse of the ahem "A" ward! yes I stayed overnight
too! By the way, the nurses and doctors loves to drop by
to say hello and watch a bit of T.V as well....

Edward was out the next morning and so glad to be home.
Healing was fast and all glory to God!

Chocolate Fondue and Ate Bam

It was a great idea from my best friend Jennifer.
She came over for a visit at our place and bought
this inexpensive fondue set that is easily set up.
The chocolate bar is specially bought from Seng Siong
(a local supermarket store)which is being melted first
over a pot with water or microwave and gently transfer
them them over to the fondue dish. The candle beneath
does the job of keeping it warm. We have strawberries,
mashmallows, apples & berries for dips. The children
have so much fun especially my sister-in-law Barbara.

We have to keep a lookout for little hands that tend
to wander near the candle though. Jonathan never touch
it after I told him that it's hot! hot! he understood
immediately..maybe it's the many other times he
almost touch something hot....

Well...the fondue is so good! we have outrun
our supplies of dips so I cut out more fruits
and added even biscuits to try and finish the
chocolate. heee heee...

Hope you get around to try this! It's a great
conversation starters and the children loves
to get their hands dirty plus eating chocolate
..who can resist that? "smile"

Get together Filipino style

Just recently, we celebrate with Edward's group of friends
at the ex-landlady's house. All the former bachelors get
together with their families. We have a fun time of singing,
eating and catching up. One big happy family!

Painting Time!

I was reading Susan Striker on Young at Art and was so amazed
at her wise counsel about teaching toddlers self expression, problem
solving skills and an appreciation for art. In her first paragraph,
she says " when babies are developmentally ready to begin the scribbling
experiments that will lead the way to reading and writing later on,
they need a sensitive adult to have a crayon and paper ready for them..
there is no more significant milestone in your child's development than
the first mark he or she makes on paper. These squiggles herald the start
of a lifetime of writing and drawing". How sensible!

So..I started them on the easel with finger painting and brush.

Susan gave this ten cardinal rules for teaching creative art..
ready? here goes...

Let go of your own expectations on how the art project should be completed.

Never draw, paint or write on a child's artwork.

Never point out accidental similarities to realistic objects. (ops!)

Never show a child how to draw or entertain a child by making realistic
pictures. (ops!)

Never give a child coloring books, dot-to-dot, magic paint with water, molds
drawing machines, drawing computers or similiar ant-art-toys.(Gulity!)

Encourage a child to come up with many different solutions to problems
rather than only one correct answer.

Don't ask "what is it?" or " What are you making" ("What" it is not
as important as "how" it is being made.

Never encourage children to participate in art contests or other forms
of competition that pit a child against another child.

Don't scold for drawing on unacceptable surfaces. Offer paper and say"
Oh good. I see you feel like drawing"

Do not rush a child to the next level of development.

Josephine in school

It is historial for me to see Josephine dressed up in her uniform
getting ready for school. She is attending Nursery 2 at a Methodist
Kindergarten which we are excited about because the teachers are
Christian. She come home with devotion songs and good habits
like saying grace before meals, waiting patiently for her turn and
clearing her own toys ! (I totally loved that).

I still teach her at home in the morning before she goes to school.
We play a lot with maths, chinese and art so it does not become
regimental. I am still struggling with her chinese though and has
regretted not speaking to her more when she is still a baby.

Now, I speak to Jonathan in mandarin...hopefully he is easier to
teach....;- )

IKEA

Yes, IKEA is our favourite store and it's only 15 mins walk away.
There is great place for kids to hang out and mummy can take a
coffee break.

Blessed New Year!

This is the year of the Lord's favor.
We had a scripture read out to us in
Isaiah 61 "to proclaim the year of the
Lord's favor".

It was a beautiful passage full of God's
promises and proclamation. As a family,
we look to the promises of God rather
than the news of the world. God held
the future and He rules and reign
in our midst. We allow room for God
to perform miracles in our life through
His promises to all His children.

We know and are assured that God will
bring us there.

May you be richly blessed with every
spiritual blessing and joy overflowing
with God's goodness.

Jacob Ballas Garden

Jacob Ballas Garden is open to all children under 12 years of age and

adults are allowed if they are accompanied by children. Entrance is free

, no food allowed inside but you can bring some bottled drinks in case

the kids get thirsty. There is a little canteen that sells ice-creams, soda,

cakes and crackers. The canteen can hold small birthday celebration

but you would need to check with the canteen owner first. There is also

a children area inside the garden where party can be held, the price is

$400 for 3 hours!

There is a herb garden, ponds, bridges, treehouse with slides, playarea

for kids and so much more. I do not hope to spoil your fun...discover them

yourself. Check out the slideshow!

Manila home kitchens

I love kitchens! I love open kitchen with wet and dry area for cooking.

I took a shot of my neighbour's open kitchen with a makeshift roof and

very big spacious area to cook. I enjoyed watching her cook for her family

the usual staple like adobo and mixed vegetables. Look at the lovely shelf

placed above the cooking area, so accessible!

Jonathan First Hair Cut

It's a custom here in Asia to shave the child first hair

in hope that his hair be plentiful. I don't know about

that but I guess there is no harm trying. So when

we saw an old shop full of barber we step in without

hesitation. Jonathan was so quiet throughout the

whole process, we reward him with a superman suit

bought at SM Mall Manila. The suit is so affordable that

we bought the princess suit for Josephine.

Manila Trip - Food

Filipino food stays on the tasty side. It's either sweet or savoury. Being a Chinese, I was not used to it but now I am eating like a filipino. I love my "bagoon"(Shrimp paste) with Kare Kare (that's Ox-tail in a peanut gravy). That's lovely fried Bangus dipped in vinegar. Avocados are so cheap..it's scary! We have them blend with condensed milk and sugar (only do that on vacation...) Viola! The avocados taste so heavenly! hmmmmm.

The Filipinos loves to buy takeaways like Dunkin Donuts & pizza as a gift to friends or family when they visit. The packaging is so presentable! The same amount of packaging would be double the price here in Singapore.

There is so much to showcase filipino food wish I am back there again.

It takes hercules strength and nimble minds to make house moving a success.Unfortunately, I have neither of those ...so it was challenging! We took 3 days to move from one estate to another. Ed and me were so flat out.
But we love our new home! Extra space and greenery, it make it sooooo worth it.

Recent updates and Belated Jonathan's Birthday

Have not written for a long time...cause my camera is down

my SD card is not working and can't find a card reader for

my handphone SD card..lahh..lah..lah...

Children need my attention and worry about their

development and health issues...lahh...lah...

Husband need my support and encourgement

fighting for time to spent together.

My parents and brother are now staying one estate

away so I need to call them once in a while to keep in touch.

They have health issues and personal needs but most of

all our listening ears.

Then my friends wants a night out....I am flat out...

Then Sunday comes, I serve in Church, no complains here

cause I love to worship the Lord and He lifted up my burden

and say "Come to me, all ye who are weary and I will give you rest"

Monday comes...Here I go out with God's strength!

My Father

Remember how small you were as a child?

Rather timid and afraid of the night, the ceiling seems hover over you ?

That’s how I feel as a child. One night a drunk man slipped his hand through our
bedroom window, babbling in his drunken stupor. While I curled into a ball suppressing my cry, fearing he hears me.

Sometimes I look at Josephine when she shares her fear and anxiety, the same reflection
of me in her seems all too familiar.

My father used to bring me home from school while we wind through the little trodden path. He used to sing and gently speaks to me as if lifting all my fears through his melodious voice. Immediately, my fear is gone and I was brave enough to walk ahead of him. My bravery comes from my father’s presence as if he chased all the darkness away.

Few months ago, we went out as a family outing and Dad took Josephine’s hand while she was afraid to go near the fishing pond. See the picture…it tells a thousand story.

I was so moved by the picture…

I remember my Father in Heaven showing the same love as my Dad does, even more so.

Tenderly, gently He Leads Me and I will not be afraid because HIS PRESENCE chased
all the darkness away.

Edward is my better half.

We have been married for seven years and still counting our blessings.

Filipino men are tendered hearted. They are very family-oriented and love children. Friends have asked me how it is like to be married to him, it’s summed up like this :

-Great father to the kids and good husband to me!
-He is strict with finances and a good saver!
-He cooks! Oh so good especially his beef stew (menudo)
-He wears his emotions on his sleeves
-He must settle quarrels before the sun goes down.
-He loves stereo sets, home theatres and all latest gadgets, big plasma TV is a must!
-He is grounded and often brings me back to reality whenever I am in the “air” especially on shopping trips.

What more can I say?

I am blessed to have married him.

Josephine First Day at School

Josephine first day at school. Yesterday, I took her to the hair salon for a cut. I was very pleased that she sat there quietly while the hairdresser trims away. It lasted for about 10 mins before she starts to get restless. I am quite happy with the overall result. Daddy was equally pleased that it fits her frame. Last night, we packed her bags (not much really) just to share with her about getting ready for school. Shoes...checked...socks...checked...waterbottle..checked...sweater..
checked. Morning, she wakes up and brush her teeth with Jonathan trailing behind her imitating her routine. He was eagerly trying to get ready for school as well. Grandma came over with her bike and brought her to school. And yes, we prayed over her as she ended with a resounding "AMEN" ;- ) All was quiet at home...hmmm..isn't this what I was seeking for a while...quiet? Quite paradoxical...i am feeling
a little lonely without her.The school ended at 2pm when I picked her
up. Her surprised and happy face is priceless when she sees me! I wish I had a camera then.School was good for her and she made
some friends. Josephine has grown up at last...to school to school...to school.

Lucas - Found a match

Lucas was diagnosed with lukemia.

Today, we are heartened to hear that he has found
a match. One of his siblings must have been
the donor.

Let us lift him up in prayer!

Dear Lucas,

I have not seen you but heard so much about you. Aunty Peh Cheng shared with me one day about you.

You are very sick and you have to stay in a hospital. Aunty Peh Cheng told me you were such a clever boy who loves to read and read...and you are just four years old.

It must seem painful and awfully distress at a place like the hospital but I am sure you smile again when your mummy and daddy came to visit and not forgetting all your friends.

You have asked what wrong have you done to deserve this. We have no answer except God held all the answer and He knows best. When you are sick, Jesus is always by your side HE knows the pain and sorrow because HE was there when the nail drove through His hand, betrayed and outcast. Jesus knows and cares deeply for you. Lucas, even I have not seen you (cause the hospital does not allow too many visitors), I am praying for you right now and May God hear this prayer of mine.

Lucas, be well again, IN JESUS NAME!

Josephine's 3 year old Birthday

Josephine turn three this year and we are so thankful to the Lord
for her protection and growth. I do not know how to plough through
without the Lord's help. You see...Josephine is kind of a free spirited
child, she tends to wander off by herself and get lost in her own world.

It's quite stressful to bring her out especially in the mall where she
gets "dazzled" by the neon lights and attractive what-have-you.
One time, she holds a hand of a stranger and walks off together, imagine the shock on the woman's face when she realized she took the wrong child! God was watching Josephine even when she is not aware of the danger. I thank God for her protection.

Well, back to the party...Our princess arrived in her "ahem" gown accompanied by her princely stride. This is a fun day and we just want to make it memorable by dressing her in the theme of the four princesses (don't ask me who they are..I am clueless!)

Her birthday cake was amazing done by our dear brother Kok Wee,
who make it as a present for her (thank you Uncle Kok Wee!)

Jonathan did not miss out the fun either, he was dressed in superman
suit and look super delicious that mummy could not stop "kissing" him.
My prince charming!

Josephine great grandma (90+ year old) was there to celebrate her birthday, Ed and I was so grateful she makes it to the party. Kuya Dong (Jo's uncle) was our professional photographer took many shots and we are dying to see them soon!

Games are the highlight of the show, first, we have "pin the nose of the clown", Celeste emerged winner, she demonstrate clear visual skills. Next, the kids have to hunt for photos of Josephine around the room, after several prompters, the children managed to find the photos. Some exclaimed "is this really Josephine?" You see, Jo has very little hair as a baby. ;- ) Of course, how can the party end without the piñatas? The big flower piñatas was a bit hard initially; the kids could not break open after several try. Lanny prick a few holes to make it easier for the little ones to hit open. The second hit got the piñatas to break open...fly open to be exact! The kids scrambled for the sweets and even some adults join in the fun! Josephine was grinning ear to ear enjoy tremendously! We are tired but so happy that our friends and loved ones came to join in the celebration.

Next party like this will be a few years later...hmmmm..the preparation is quite tedious!

Hallelujah!

I was estatic when I discovered how to change the blog template!

It's quite easy really but it does require someone who is familiar

with the html to install the right code.
Well...I will share this...

I saved my background in gif format then register and download

the backgound in photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com/).

Photobucket will give you options in URL, code etc…choose the

URL and copy.

Thereafter, return back to blogger & open up the "LAYOUT" then

"EDIT HTML" Look out for strings that reads like this and paste

the URL link you get from photobucket.

We are moving!

So many has happened lately,

we just sold our house and bought a new one at the outskirt of Singapore.

Even though we will miss the hustle and bustle of Tampines, it's a welcome change to move further East where it's closer to the beach and nature. I am looking forward to more nature walks and bird talks while the kids ride on the bike with us.

It's an unfortunate life without pausing to meditate and reflect on God's beautiful creation and His word. God's word should have an effect on us, the bible says that His word is like a mirror, water that cleanses , sharper than two edged sword... Imagine that effect on us!

I am reminded to pray over our family using God's word over every situation and circumstances.

Prayer for today: Lord, let your word be a lamp upon our feet and a light unto our path.

Going half time

We finally made the decision.

I will be staying home at a longer period

which allows me to spend more time with

my kids. Work has been rearranged to 3

times a week.

Work does bring some sanity too!

I needed that.

July is going to be a busy month of moving

and readjusting to half time work. I really

hope to grew more intimate with the Lord

and my little brood.

Jonathan has grown so attached to me and

Josephine needed that motherly touch and

understanding. This is her sensitive age.

The Manila trip has helped us to bond closer

and my heart is still in Manila.

I doooo loook forward and counting down

the days to staying more at home!

We are packing to leave home for Manila and excited about the prospect of large space and plenty of sight seeing at the land of the Mabuhay.When we touch down at Manila Airport, what a sight to behold! ...errr.. people everywhere, chattering, arguing, battering etc...

Our children were simply absorbing this like a sponge. It was interesting to watch the kids while they took in the sight and smell. We could not get into the regular cab and has to queue another line for a bigger cab(they call FX). Wow! Did I mention the weather?It can boil an egg!The ride was bumpy but the sight make up for it as rolls and rolls of houses passes us by. I often marvel the creativity of the filipinos, concrete houses file side by side with wooden houses built by amateur hands. But of course, big land skyscrapers are among the most prominent.

When we finally arrive...Josephine closes her eyes and told us that there are half naked man walking around on the street. Not a frequent sight here in Singapore. :- )Finally resting at our home in a 45 sq m house...

I wonder how I am going to spend my entire 2 weeks in a space like this....with only the balcony as my solitude. Arggggggggggh!

Surprisingly, after putting the kids to sleep, Ed and me were able to do some catching up at this small but airy space.

I enjoy looking at the street and love the noise! Surprise! Surprise! Sometime Singapore is just to quiet! The noise has some comforting element, it seems so human!

My stay in the Philippines many years ago has help me to appreciate and love this country...hmmm maybe that's way I married Edward!

Or he choose me or I choose him...yes, we believe it was God's matching and preparation.

Nanay operation was a success and we were relieved to see her walking around the house busy with the kids again...

Nanay just loves the kids! I know even now she still misses them when
she is alone in Manila. Nanay has been quite an inspiration with her work in Pagasinan praying and visiting the sick and lost. I hope our kids pick up this good traits of Nanay.

We are homesick both for Singapore yet also homesick for Philippines when we return. I could not focus at work as my state of mind stand still at Manila!

I love Philippines!

Jonathan dance

JJ did his moves today, whenever the intro music from high five plays, he do his bogee dance.
It's so funny and Josephines loves to join in the fun.

JJ can point to objects and say..."tat" whenever we asked " Where is the fan", "Where is the clock" not forgetting to applaud himself after that!

JJ discover coughing creates attention and would reenact the coughing sequence to generate laughs from us.

JJ loves topping the milk bottle and "mop" the mess with his hands! Sigh!

JJ know his daddy and calls him "da da" and welcomes him home at the gate.

Jonathan 1 year old

What a sunday! The morning before the birthday party begin, I was frantically trying to plan everything in the right order. Get the player, the decorations, the cheque for the caterer etc. The kids were as usual messing up the living room with bits of papers and coloring.

I was so pleased with the pinatas I bought at City Hall 3rd floor that I know it's going to
turn out great for the kids. The kids have help to fill the pinatas with sweets the night before, Josephine could not resist taking a few ( I caught her in time before it got inside her mouth)

The party favors that Isabel (www.tedsnfriends.blogspot.com) make were wonderful and it was such a delight to give out to the children! They smile on their face were priceless!

My helper Lanny was good in getting everything in order and we sped out of the house by 11am.
The venue is my mother's house, it was bigger than ours and has an extra balcony area to house 20 people. We arrived the house to decorate the balcony, I pump the ballon while Lanny paste them on the wall, I can sense she enjoys the whole process. She loves my kids as her own too!
After many burst ballons and sore feet, we wolfed down mum's noodle while I rush home to
doll myself up.

The party was packed with Josephine and Jonathan's friends from the playground. They look so adorable. There was Issac (of Japanese & chinese descent), Martin (next door Malay boy), Young Young (Mum's Filipino & Dad's Chinese), Nana & Rona (Indian Expatriates) , Charlottle (authentic Chinese) & Faustine (pure Filipino). What a nice combination!

Jonathan was so happy even though this goes on without knowing that it was his birthday! The cake was done by Kok Wee and has a car on the cake, Jonathan loves cars! We blow the candles with Josephine's help as well.

The food from Neo Garden was good!

Grandma and Grandpa were happy that the party was held at their place. I want my parents to feel part of this whole event and we are glad we did that.

Josephine goes to school

Josephine starts school today.

The first day was not so smooth cause about 10 minutes of warm up,

she started to "crank up" by making small noises of "I want mummy"...

Watching her from a tiny glass window, it was hard to watch your kid cry.
Feel like going in and scope her up and bring her home and throw

in the towel. My mind says NO, let her stay, let her learn the hard way

..ouch.

Finally, I prevailed and stood outside while she calms down.

Realising that she always play with us and her grandparents,

she has all the undivided attention. But today, she is just like any

other kids in the school and she has to cope like being the rest. I need
to toughen her up. If for the moment, I wanted a safe way out for her,

I might ruin her opportunity to learn and cope with the reality of this world.

Yes, I forgot to pray with her before she leaves for school.

I must remember tomorrow.

Josephine teases

I bought a toddler bible yesterday...Josephine is ready to read and I am eager to
teach her. What is more appropriate than the bible. I went home full of expectation
and looking forward to a quiet evening with her.

Josephine receive me at the door with a loud and cheerful "Heeello mummy!...I'm so glad to see you!" "Wow!" that is quite a mouthful, where did she learn that from? Then I realise I speak that often to family friends as well. Josephine has pick it up along the way..

After putting down my bag, I pulled out the bible and show it to her, knowing that I should't
push her too quickly, I observed her reation as she flips through the pages. Then to my dismay, she slam shut the book and put it aside. Then I sigh loudly and exclaim in a sad voice "why are you not reading it, don't you like it? THere is your favourite story of Jonah etc..."
What caught me off guarded was her responds "Don't worry mummy, I will read it" and she is
only two & half.

I laugh so loudly with her cause her respond is one to adult and she has comforted and reassured me. There is so much to learn from a little child.

God gave us children

Josephine is a miracle child. God gave her to us and we are so grateful for her. I was unable to conceive till 2 years back God led me to the right doctor who did a simple operation to clear my fallopian tube. The prodecure was so simple yet it took us 3 agonizing years to find out. Jonathan was born shortly after Josephine turns 1.5 years old.

God will not withhold that which concern us. These trials has taught me to be patient with God and especially patient with myself.

Prior before I conceive Josephine, Ed (my husband) & me travels to Indonesia for a break to seek God's will about having children. I cried buckets and ask God why it is so hard to have a child, I felt heaven was like brass, I did what Gideon did, I ask God for a sign, I was desperate.

God hear that prayer and on our return trip, I sat next to a man who turns out to be a missionary and a principle of a bible school he specialise in healing ministry. We spoke at length and he prayed for us and took us home. How coincidental can this be? The man's encourgement was like healing balm to our soul, we felt God has heard us and He will answer them soon.

3 months after the simple operation I conceived. Hallelujah!

There were many incident how God slowly lead us to Himself and see HIM clearly. My faith was strengthen and encourged. Ed was especially estatic!

God be praised! I praise like Hannah did...my God hears our prayer and He answers them when we call on Him.
